How it works

Result = value × (from Hz ÷ to Hz)

Frequency counts events per second. One hertz is one cycle per second, and the prefixes scale by a thousand each step: 1 kHz = 1,000 Hz, 1 MHz = 1,000 kHz, 1 GHz = 1,000 MHz — so a 3 GHz processor clocks three billion cycles every second. RPM (revolutions per minute) belongs to the same family but counts per minute instead: divide by 60 to reach hertz. An engine at 3,000 rpm is turning at 50 Hz, and a 1,500 rpm pump at 25 Hz. The scale spans everything: mains electricity runs at 50 or 60 Hz, human hearing covers roughly 20 Hz to 20 kHz, FM radio sits around 100 MHz, and Wi-Fi occupies 2.4 and 5 GHz. Converting between them is just moving the decimal point three places at a time.
