A cube is the simplest solid: one side length s determines everything. Its volume is s³ — length × width × height with all three equal — and its surface area is 6·s², six identical square faces. The powers matter. Doubling the side multiplies the surface by 4 but the volume by 8; this cube-square law governs why big ice blocks melt slower, why packaging costs grow slower than contents, and why small creatures dominate the insect world. A handy metric anchor: a cube of side 10 cm holds exactly one litre (1,000 cm³), and a cube of side 1 m holds 1,000 litres — one cubic metre.
